“We’re committed to empowering others”

Leadership Team

At The Peer Practice, lived experience is at the heart of everything we do - from how we lead to how we support others. We don’t just know about mental health challenges in theory; we’ve been through them ourselves. That personal experience helps us connect with empathy, authenticity, and trust, creating a safe space where you truly feel seen and supported.

With lived experience guiding us every step of the way, we're dedicated to empowering others on their own journeys, offering genuine understanding and meaningful connection along the way.

Hi, I’m Kirstie!

I’ve been working in community services for over 15 years, starting with direct support and then moving into leading and growing teams focused on lived experience. My passion is advocating for lived experience as a powerful way to create meaningful change - shaping services that are authentic and truly connect with people. I hold a Bachelor of Psychology, which helps me blend professional knowledge with my own personal journey. Having navigated my mental health path and discovering my ADHD later in life has given me a deeper understanding of both individual and systemic challenges.

I love organising, coordinating, and planning - whether it’s workforce development, strategy, or just everyday logistics. My special focus is on managing and growing Lived Experience teams, and I’m also passionate about researching ways to strengthen peer work and increase its visibility.

At home, I share my space with my partner, our cat, and a greyhound. When I’m not watching documentaries or learning about history, you’ll probably find me immersed in a DIY project—painting walls, furniture, or even stenciling floors. I find the process surprisingly calming and enjoy the creative outlet.

At the core of everything I do, I value connection - whether that’s through my work or spending quality time with loved ones.

Milly - Lived Experience Program Lead

Hi, I’m Milly

Lived Experience Program Lead

I’m part of the Leadership Team at The Peer Practice. While I might not always be in the front lines, my role is all about shaping the heart of what we do—creating trauma-aware, compassionate spaces where everyone feels safe, supported, and empowered, including the amazing humans who work here.

With 15 years of experience as a Lived Experience professional and my own journey through PTSD recovery, I’m deeply passionate about embedding lived experience into everything we create. I like to think of myself as a bit of a neuronerd (and proudly neurospicy!), blending research obsession with soulful curiosity to design programs that feel real, human, and grounded.

My passions? Post-traumatic growth, meaningful conversations, and helping people feel truly seen and heard. I’m endlessly inspired by the power of our stories and how they connect, heal, and help us grow. You’ll often find me dreaming up new ideas over a herbal tea, getting lost in a good book, taking a walk in nature, or knitting something cozy while rewatching Practical Magick for the hundredth time.

Spiritual, creative, and always up for deep chats about life and love- I'm here behind the scenes, making sure our values stay front and centre and that our team feels supported to do their best work.

"I define a leader as anyone who takes responsibility for finding the potential in people and processes, and who has the courage to develop that potential.

Daring leaders work to make sure people can be themselves and feel a sense of belonging.
