Jaan
PEER SUPPORT WORKER
Available East & South-East MetroHey I'm Jaan!
I was born in Penang, Malaysia and raised on Christmas Island where I went to primary school. I moved to Perth in 2000 and have been living here ever since. From my personal lived experiences, I've come to see that mental health directly affects our quality of life just like physical health does. Growing up in a household where mental health issues "weren't a thing", it has been quite eye-opening and enriching not to have to sweep this subject under the rug anymore. Ever since I can remember, I've always been curious about how I can best live my life.
Whether it's through the lens of psychology, philosophy, spirituality or faith, I firmly believe in the importance of examining our lives. Doing so can have positive outcomes on our mental health and character if approached with sincerity.
What is keeping us from true peace, happiness and contentment?
Questions like this are why I continue to learn and try to support others on their own journeys.

RJ
PEER SUPPORT WORKER
Available Perth HillsHi, I’m RJ!
I’m a deeply compassionate and sensitive person. My sensitivity is an extraordinary gift—though it didn’t always feel that way. I'm committed to using life’s challenges as tools for awareness, healing, and transformation... every... single... day!
My purpose is to work with others to find their own inner wisdom and connection. I’ve explored many healing and psychological modalities and chosen to practice Peer Support Work in the community, where my own healing began. I feel deeply aligned to walking beside someone who may need help seeing the opportunity in their pain.
Having faced my own challenges, I’m dedicated to offering a safe and compassionate space for others. I once felt destined for disempowerment and low self-worth, and it’s that journey that fuels my passion for supporting those who feel there’s "no way out." Together, we can gently weave a path toward authenticity and lasting freedom.
My professional background spans over 20 years in the intricate process of healing old wounds (aka mental health). I've committed my career to this field through extensive study and direct practice. I’m endlessly curious about how our brilliant brains can evolve to hold such suffering.
I’m a mother to two perfectly challenging, adorable and intriguing teens, a work-in-progress Yogi, and a lifelong seeker of the heart.
Area/s of Focus: Help others reflect, rediscover their truth, and grow toward wholeness and self-trust
Most Passionate About: Emotional healing & self-discovery
Fun Skill: I can juggle and play saxophone (but not at the same time!) -
Carol
PEER SUPPORT WORKER
Available Northern Suburbs & CentralHi there! I'm Carol, mum to two beautiful grown-up daughters and proud granny to two quirky greyhounds. Helping others brings me a deep sense of joy and purpose—it’s been a guiding force throughout my journey.
Before stepping into peer support, I spent seven fulfilling years volunteering at Ronald McDonald House, offering comfort and care to families going through tough times. For the past six years, I’ve worked as a Peer Support Worker, walking alongside people as they explore and share their experiences with mental health. I believe in the healing power of conversation, connection, and shared understanding.
Originally from the bonnie hills of Scotland, I’ve called Australia home for over 30 years. Starting fresh in a new country gave me insight into the emotional challenges of rebuilding life—creating friendships, fostering connection, and rediscovering balance.
When life gets stressful, meditation is my anchor—it brings peace and clarity. I also love long walks, trying out new recipes, and getting lost in music. Looking ahead, my personal goals are simple yet powerful: stay happy, stay healthy, and cherish quality time with the people I love.
I'm here to offer a listening ear, a kind heart, and support without judgment. Whether you're feeling a little stuck or simply need someone to talk to—I’m ready when you are.

Available Northern Suburbs & CentralHi, I'm Rachel!
I’m someone who loves to laugh, listen deeply, and connect with others in meaningful ways. Kindness is at the heart of everything I do, and I bring that into my work every day.
Before joining The Peer Practice, I spent 16 years in disability support work and was also an accredited veterinary nurse. Now, I’m incredibly excited to be stepping into Peer Support Work, where I can draw on my own lived experiences with trauma and mental health recovery to walk alongside others on their journey.
Outside of work, I find joy in cooking, painting, walking in nature, and attending GROW groups. These activities help me stay grounded and connected. I’m also a bit of a TV buff – my favourite shows are Baby Reindeer and Frasier.
Working as a Peer Support Worker is important to me because I believe in the power of self-advocacy. I’m here to empower and support others to find their voice, build confidence, and take steps toward their own wellbeing.
Area/s of Focus: Supporting others build their confidence in advocating for themselves.

Nathalie
PEER SUPPORT WORKER
Available Central, East, South & South-East Metro AreasHi, I’m Nathalie. I was born in Scotland to Dutch and Indonesian parents, and after a bit of moving around, I’ve been lucky to call Australia home since I was 11. I live and work on Whadjuk Noongar Country, and I respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this land. My journey has led me through a variety of Peer Worker roles, and it’s a space I feel deeply connected to. I love being able to walk alongside people—celebrating their wins, holding space through the tough times, and helping them feel safe enough to be honest and real. My own lived experience taught me the power of being supported without judgment, and I strive to offer that same kind of care to others.
I’m especially passionate about self-love, self-care, and self-efficacy, and I’m a strong ally for the LGBTQIA+ community, First Nations peoples, and Sex Workers. I believe in building a community where everyone is included, heard, and valued. Outside of work, I’m a big foodie—I love cooking, eating, watching food videos, and going to live concerts. One of my favourite things is getting lost in a new city and finding my way back again. I also make time for walking, checking in with how I’m really feeling, and spending time with friends who keep it honest and direct.
If I had to describe myself in three words, I’d say I’m warm, cheeky, and empathetic. My personal motto is: “If it’s meant to be, it’s up to me.” And if you’re looking for a great show, I highly recommend See on Apple TV—it’s a wild mix of action, love, humour, and survival in a futuristic world. I’m here because I know the value of peer support firsthand, and I love helping others realise their true potential and watching them shine.

Kai
PEER SUPPORT WORKER
Available Northern, Central, East, & South Metro Regions of PerthHi, I’m Kai and I use he/they pronouns. I’d describe myself as curious, inclusive, and a proud AuDHDer. I’m a qualified sexologist, a PhD candidate, and a researcher specialising in gender diversity, neurodivergence, and eating disorders. My work is grounded in lived experience, and I’m passionate about supporting people to feel more at home in their bodies. When I first came out as trans, it was hard to imagine a full and happy life for myself until I met others who were already living that reality. Those connections helped me see what was possible, and now I strive to offer that same sense of hope and belonging to others.
Outside of work, I love falling down research rabbit holes, hiking, and birdwatching. I been told I have an encyclopaedic knowledge of very niche topics, and I’m known for turning complex, stat-heavy research into simple flowcharts, drawings, and Instagram tiles that make information accessible. I also have a knack for cooking almost anything using just a microwave and a bit of imagination! My self-care includes unmasking, running, and snuggling with greyhounds.
I’m especially passionate about uplifting the voices of neurodivergent and trans people, and creating practical, everyday tools from research that people can actually use. If you’re looking for a great read, I highly recommend Unmasking for Life by Dr Devon Price; it’s a beautiful guide to living authentically as an Autistic person. I’m here to walk alongside you, share knowledge, and help make the complex feel simple and supportive.
Area/s of Focus: Neurodivergence, Gender Diversity & Eating Disorders.
Most Passionate About: Supporting others to feel more comfortable in their bodies.
Fun Skill: Crocheting personalised blankets for anxious greyhounds!
