A friendly, science‑meets‑lived‑experience workshop for real humans doing real healing.
Ever wondered why your brain reacts the way it does after hard things happen?
Or why your nervous system seems to have a mind of its own sometimes?
In this warm, gentle online workshop, you’ll join Peer Practice’s Lived Experience Lead, Milly, for a down‑to‑earth dive into the trauma brain, self‑compassion, and the very real possibility of growing through what you’ve been through.
Together, we’ll unpack the science (in normal‑people language), share lived wisdom, and explore how life’s tough moments shape the way you think, feel, connect, and protect yourself. This isn’t a clinical lecture, it’s a relatable, human conversation about healing, safety, and why your brain actually makes perfect sense.
In this session, you’ll explore:
🌿 The Science of Trauma: what’s really happening in your brain + body, and why you're not “broken.”
🌿 The Trauma‑Informed Lens: a gentler way of seeing yourself and the world.
🌿 Building Safety: practical ways to feel steadier on the inside and outside.
🌿 Practical Self‑Compassion: small kindnesses that make a big difference.
🌿 Post‑Traumatic Growth: the good stuff that becomes possible with support, safety, and understanding.
What people are saying:
"I found this workshop to be equally as informative and educational as it was compassionate and nurturing. Milly has a beautiful way of making everyone's unique and individual experiences of the same types of traumas feel normal and accepted. Milly also has a way of making you feel she is on your level, sharing personal stories and giving real world language to topics and experiences that, when delivered from some other facilitators, can appear too clinical or with a feeling of superiority. I left this workshop not only with some new science backed information and understanding of my own past experiences, but also with some practical tools to use for self regulation and ideas for further therapy and healing. I would absolutely recommend this workshop to anyone who is looking to deepen their journey of self, and gain some insight into how to take tangible steps toward healthier healing"
AND
"This was such a valuable workshop. For me it acted as a space for self reflection - recapping what I've learned, and reinforcing what I need to get back to doing.
It's easy to drift or plateau in recovery, and this session today helped wake me a little.
I'm so grateful. This was valuable to me as someone who is already familiar with the concepts discussed, but I also feel it would be equally if not more valuable for someone who is newer on their trauma recovery journey, or for those who are supporting someone.
I really like how it intertwined lived experience with science. It felt both informative, digestible and applicable at the same time. Thank you."
